the OBJECT! Series are poster-like paintings portraying women and girls as they are living everyday sexism, inequality, discrimination, gender-based violence. The title “OBJECT!” is a word play, confronting the media images of women we are bombarded with in Europe and the US, suggesting women must be sexual in order to even be seen, images that so often objectify, are manipulated and reduce women to their bodies. Quoting Kiki Smith: "Our culture seems to believe that it's entertaining to teach women to be frightened."
The paintings are all the same size, 38 by 46 cm, for more on the paintings visit the blog project.
